Miller Davis’s Michael Farese Named Builders Exchange Rising Star

Michael Farese, Miller Davis Project Manager, received the Builders Exchange of Northwest Michigan’s Rising Star award at the organization’s recent Awards of Excellence. The honor celebrates a young professional in the early stages of their career who demonstrates exceptional potential in the construction industry. Farese earned the award for his strong passion for the field, commitment to community involvement and dedication to professional growth. Farese understands the ever-evolving nature of construction and recognizes the importance of fostering innovation and collaboration.

“I’m truly honored to receive this award,” Farese shared. “It’s incredibly meaningful to know that my work is valued not only by our team but also by our partners and community.”

Farese’s first project with Miller Davis was overseeing Traverse City Area Public Schools’ new Montessori School—a $22M venture launched amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite being new to the field, he helped manage labor shortages, shifting MIOSHA and CDC pandemic regulations, and budget and supply challenges with resilience and composure. He adapted swiftly to changing conditions, collaborating with subcontractors and architectural partners to keep the project on track while adhering to health protocols and strategic goals.

During his tenure at Miller Davis, Farese has helped oversee millions of dollars in projects, leveraging his versatile skills to uplift the community he’s always called home. His ability to build strong relationships with local subcontractors has been pivotal, achieving 93% and 80% local subcontractor engagement for his projects in Traverse City. Known for rallying teams around shared goals, his problem-solving acumen, and his calm under pressure, Farese has set a high industry standard.

“Accepting this award for the work I’ve been able to do in my community means more to me than I can describe with words,” Farese expressed. “I care deeply about the Traverse City area and love that my job allows me to apply my skills and strengths to improve this amazing area.”
