MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY

East Wing Special Collections Renovations

Miller Davis served as the construction manager for the recent $13.8 million renovation of Michigan State University’s Main Library East Wing, transforming 26,000 square feet into a state-of-the-art home for the Stephen O. Murray and Keelung Hong Special Collections. The project, located at the heart of the university’s main campus, included expanding rare materials storage, installing advanced climate control and fire suppression systems, and upgrading the HVAC infrastructure to ensure optimal preservation conditions. By relocating the collection from the basement to the third floor, the renovation improved accessibility and fostered greater collaboration among library staff.
