KALAMAZOO COUNTY

Approximately $23.5 million were invested in the project, which included a newly constructed 75,697 square foot addition that adds infrastructure and expands the current 327 bed jail into a 580 bed facility and some renovations of the existing facility. The jail addition features a newly designed pod configuration that will allow personnel to monitor prisoners more effectively, and will better facilitate inmate programs to reduce recidivism.

The Architect/Engineer is Byce and Associates of Kalamazoo and RQAW Corporation of Indianapolis. Construction began fall 2011.
