CITY OF KALAMAZOO
The Crosstown Justice Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan was originally constructed by Miller Davis in 1955 as a retail store and was converted to medical office use in 1983. The 108,000-square-foot, two-story facility was completely remodeled by Miller Davis in 2002 for the City’s Department of Public Safety and Kalamazoo County’s District and Probate Court functions. A state-of-the-art Crime Laboratory was created along with computer-aided dispatch and enhanced 911 equipment.
Remodeling for the Crosstown Justice Center Facility was the City of Kalamazoo’s first ever experience with the Construction Management project delivery approach. Miller-Davis Company completed the improvements on time and under budget at a cost of approximately $9.8 million through a Construction Manager/Constructor form of agreement. Eckert Wordell provided architectsArchitectural and engineering services.
