CITY OF KALAMAZOO
The Kalamazoo Farmers Market (KFM), a community staple located on Bank Street since 1947, recently underwent a series of improvements with Miller Davis serving as Owner’s Representative.
The first phase of improvements to the market included adding new vendor space, renovating the existing vendor sheds, and new restroom facilities and a performance stage. The new restroom and office building have more than doubled the number of restroom facilities and added a family restroom. In addition, Bank Street was realigned where it intersects with Lake Street, creating additional parking for the market. Current parking lots on both sides of the market were repaved, and theĀ Kalamazoo River Valley Trail is being extended to reach the space.
The second phase of the market’s improvements will include a playground and a new events space. The 8,865-square-foot events building will be available for year-round use. The addition of an engaging playground at the KFM site will further encourage healthy play and recreation for residents, visitors, and the youth participating in onsite youth programming.
