CASS COUNTY LAW AND COURTS
The Cass County Law and Courts Building was created to address critical safety, security and convenience needs and to improve services for the general public, the Prosecutor’s office, and court staff as well as defendants, victims and witnesses in the court system. The Law and Courts Building was constructed on a 50 acre site on the north edge of the Village that was already home to other county agencies.
Completed in July 2003, the 57,000-square-foot, one-story facility includes Circuit, Family/Probate and District courts along with the Prosecutor’s office, Probation and Friend of the Court allowing all county functions requiring a heightened level of security to be housed in a single, barrier-free building.
Miller Davis completed the improvements on time and under budget at a cost of approximately $7.0 million through a Construction Manager/Advisor form of agreement. Miller Davis also assisted the county in selecting a design firm for the project. The Troyer Group of Mishawaka, Indiana, provided architectural/engineering services.
