For the second consecutive year, general contracting and construction management firm Miller-Davis Company, has been awarded the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Michigan Outstanding Safety Performance Award for achieving a zero injury incident rate in 2009. The award was presented by the AGC of Michigan in a special ceremony at the Westin Book Cadillac in Detroit, Michigan on January 29, 2010.
Winners of the safety awards are determined by comparing the injury incident rate of each competing company. The injury incident rate is based on the number of lost time injury cases a firm experienced during the award year, as it relates to the total amount of work hours generated. Awards are broken into two categories, general contractors and specialty contractors. The "Outstanding Safety Performance Award" is given to firms with the best injury incident rate. Miller-Davis' total hours worked during 2009 were reported at over 62,000, with zero lost time injuries.
"It is a great honor for Miller-Davis Company to receive the Outstanding Safety Performance Award. We continuously strive to provide a safe work environment for everyone involved in our projects. To receive this award from AGC of Michigan reinforces that all our extra efforts towards safety truly make a difference," stated Kyle Frailing, Miller-Davis Safety Coordinator.
